a new narrative to battle childhood trauma
-
We can easily be deceived be what may look like a “good” person versus a “bad” person when it comes to abuse.
The truth is, we all must confront our self-righteousness in order to combat the cycle of generational abuse.
-
Whether estrangement is forced upon you or self-initiated, the seed of self-righteousness is the driver.
We must approach family ties with a new understanding of the Image of God in man, and see ourselves outside the bounds of familiar family labels.
Jesus called these labels demonic earthly ways of thinking.
-
The is probably the toughest subject to breach with a new narrative.
Our minds can be renewed beyond coping mechanisms. If we possess a label as if it’s our lifelong identity or destiny, we limit the healing process available to us.
Lies we tell ourselves over and over can masquerade as “incurable” mental illness. The truth about the Image of God in man says otherwise.

Seed reproduces after its own kind. This is a genetic reality for all living beings.
Addiction is no different. Even as childhood survivors of addicts, we are more likely to become addicts ourselves.
We must learn how the seed of abuse operates in a context of self-righteousness, and crush it with the gift of the Image of God.
